Cougar Players of the Week

Last Week:

Jeff Weberg (Rockford, Ill.) of the Concordia Cougar men’s basketball team is honored for the week of Dec. 15-21.

Weberg notched a season high 23 points in the Cougar men’s contest against Cornell College on Dec. 20. The Cougars’ 6’0” guard shot 6-14 from the field - including a pair of three-pointers - and hit all nine of his free throw attempts. For the season, Weberg is shooting .387 (12-31) from three-point range and .875 (14-16) from the free throw line. He has scored 86 points for an average of 10.8 per game.

Weberg, the son of Lon and Jill Weberg, is a 2006 graduate of Rockford Lutheran High School. He is a sophomore with a double major in accounting and exercise science.

Two Weeks Ago:

Deontay Young (Chicago, Ill.) of the Concordia Cougar men’s basketball team is honored for the week of Dec. 8-14.

Young scored 19 points, just one shy of his career-best, in the Dec. 13 game versus Lakeland College. The Cougars’ point guard stepped up his point production in a game where the Cougars’ big men were relegated to the bench for much of the game with foul trouble. Young also handed out six assists and pulled down five rebounds while playing the entire 40 minutes.

Young, the son of Euggine Johnson, is a 2007 graduate of Lincoln Park High School. He is a sophomore business management major.
