Featured artists include:

Maria Gedroc, M.A.A.A., adjunct professor of art, will display work in mixed media painting. Gedroc’s art focuses on urban environments including the Chicago metropolitan area as well as the small neighborhoods surrounding them. She is among the local artists who have been featured in Chicago Art Scene, Gedroc’s work is currently displayed at the Dancing Krow Studios in the Oak Park Arts District on Harrison Street. The studio is open Wednesdays 12-5 p.m. and by appointment, for more information call (847) 537-9817.

Deb Herman,
M.F.A., associate professor of art and curator of the Concordia University Chicago Art Collection, will exhibit new drawings of winter trees. Herman recently unveiled the first phase of an online collection of Web-based art lessons on 14th- through 19th-century artists as part of a three-year research grant from the John and Frances Beck Foundation for Literacy. The lessons can be found at www.cuchicago.edu/artlessons. Herman exhibits her art locally, nationally and internationally.

Nikkole Huss, M.F.A., assistant professor of art, will exhibit her work that shifts between intersecting regions of drawing, painting, photography, fiber, and installation. Her art connects the fragility and vulnerability of the natural environment to its distinct elements of inner strength, adaptability and resiliency. Huss exhibits her work nationally in New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, Auburn and St. Louis. Huss’ international shows include ArtExhibition Link in Berliner Liste, Germany, and the Civic Museum of Santa Marinella in Italy. She is currently participating in “Alphabets and Excursions,” a solo show featuring drawings and paintings at Saginaw Valley State University in University Center, Mich.

BettyAnn Mocek, M.F.A., professor of art and director of the Ferguson Art Gallery, will exhibit mixed media works utilizing drawing, painting, collage and printmaking. Mocek’s urban aesthetic focuses on a fascination with line, capturing an explosion of glimpses, busy-ness and energy of the landscape within a muted palette and scrubbed colors. Awarded for her work in the arts community, Mocek exhibits her work nationally and internationally. Her work is in the collection of the Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing, China. She recently participated in “Collaborative Vision: The Poetic Dialogue Project,” a traveling group exhibition that began at the Chicago Cultural Center.
