Below are suggestions on how to stay in touch with your Concordia student and how to be involved.
From Mom with Love (Care Packages and Letters)
Send your child a card, a letter, or a care package. Every student, residential or commuter, has a box number assigned to them. To avoid delays or problems with delivery, mail you send to your student should have a complete name & a box number in this format:
Student's Full Name
7400 Augusta Street
#(Box number)
River Forest, IL 60305
Learn about Campus Resources
When you attend Jump Start, we intentionally include you in sessions where you can learn more about the opportunities and resources available to your student and to you. You will have additional opportunities to learn about these resources during Weeks of Welcome and Family Weekend. In turn, you can become our best partner to ensure your student’s continued success.
Attend Family Weekend
Consider attending Family Weekend. It’s a special time devoted specifically for families to get together after the beginning of the school year.
Mark your calendars for Family Weekend 2010 which is scheduled for the weekend of September 17-19, 2010.
Get Involved
Consider joining the Concordia University Auxiliary. During the year they implement several projects and use the profits from those projects to present scholarships to students attending Concordia University Chicago. For more information about, or to join the Concordia University Auxiliary, please visit their web page.
If you are the parent of a student athlete, many sports teams have opportunities for involvement. Talk to your student's coach to see if that is an option. Alumni Relations provides great programs and volunteer opportunities for enthusiastic alumni. More information can be found on their website.
Celebrate their Special Days
The Concordia University Auxiliary provides a special way to remember your student's birthday or achievements. Cakes, cupcakes, and cookies are all available for special order with at least two weeks advance notice and cannot be delivered on Saturdays, Sundays, or during vacation break days.
Funds from your order will support our Student Scholarship Fund.

Make Time to Talk/Chat Online
Consider making a special time each week to talk on the phone or chat online about their recent experiences. Each resident student has voice mail in their residence hall rooms and has been provided with a university e-mail address. Find a way to connect that works for both you and your student.
